Principal Message
Dear Cordova Meadows Top Cub Families,
Welcome to the 2025-26 school year! We are honored to be the principal and assistant principal of the Cub Community. This is an amazing neighborhood full of families and students who are supportive of our school and staff. We are eager to continue to build our programs and work in partnership with you to ensure each child’s academic and social emotional success.
We focus on PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) initiatives, Common Core State Standards, ELD Standards, and differentiated learning for all of our students. We use data to inform instruction through Professional Learning Teams and implementation of our adopted curriculum, San Francisco Math and Benchmark Advance ELA/ELD.
A High Reliability Schools shows how a school’s best practices work together and provides indicators to empower schools to measure their progress on attaining five increasing levels of reliability in the levels below. In 2023/24 Cordova Meadows received our certificate for Marzano’s High Reliability Schools Level 1!! We are waiting to hear if we received our Level 2 Certificate in the 2024/25 school year. Once we know if we obtained that level, we will work on Level 3 Certification.
In the 2023/24 school year we received the PBIS Gold Certificate that highlights our behavior support systems that we have in place at Cordova Meadows. Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is an approach schools use to promote school safety and good behavior. With PBIS, schools teach students about behavior expectations and strategies. We are currently awaiting to hear if we received the platinum certification for the 2024/25 school year.
At Cordova Meadows we also provide challenging and engaging enrichment opportunities for all students. We continue to be the only elementary school in the district to have an after school 3rd-5th grade Black Student Union (BSU) for all of our students who would like to learn more about equity work. We have a mentoring program, Project Optimism, that meets with our students to work on academic and social skills. Our student council is a way for our students to build leadership skills, and our students have the opportunity to join our after school Yearbook Club.
We are confident that, together, we can continue to make Cordova Meadows a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.
Sincerely,
Amber Fontaine, Principal
Leonardo Zamudio, Assistant Principal
