Cordova Meadows

Hi Meadows Community,

We hope you’re doing well. Please see below for a few important POMS updates as we continue supporting students and wrapping up the program year.

We’re excited to share a new partnership with universities like Sacramento State to bring trained college-aged mentors into our afterschool programs. You may see 1–2 additional mentors on-site during program hours.

These mentors are part of our Mentor 2 Mentor (M2M) program, a 12-week leadership and mentorship experience for young adults (ages 18–26). All mentors are fully trained, background-cleared, and follow district/site safety protocols.

They will support our staff by building positive relationships with students and enhancing engagement, always under staff supervision.

We’re excited to expand student support while developing future community leaders. Please reach out with any questions.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

March Curriculum Recap

March was all about College and Career Readiness!

Week 1: College Quest -Students will be able to identify and visually represent their academic, career, and personal goals by creating a college vision board. Skill emphasis: self-awareness, goal-setting, and future planning.

Week 2: School Is Yours: Shifting Mindset & Building Pride - Students will recognize how education can be used as a tool for their future and reframe their mindset about school, acknowledging it as a space they can belong to and take pride in.

Week 3: Keep it up: Building Focus and Responsibilities -Students will practice maintaining focus despite distractions, demonstrate emotional regulation in high-pressure situations, strengthen teamwork and communication skills, and reflect on how responsibility impacts academic and behavioral growth

Week 4: Real Paths: College & Career Conversations - Students will set goals that help them succeed in school and life, understand steps needed to reach college or career opportunities, and feel more prepared to make decisions about school and future careers.
